Cranberry Smoothie

A refreshing cranberry smoothie with pomegranate juice that’s quick to make with frozen cranberries, fresh orange segments, and a touch of half and half for creaminess. You only need five ingredients and five minutes to make it!

Here’s an idea: take the edge off a hectic holiday season and whirr up a bright cranberry smoothie, and serve it with a kicky straw. It’s somewhat healthy, tart and sweet, and takes all of five minutes to make. Plus, you can’t beat the color – it just says, “hello, Christmas!”

It’s usually around this time of year that I start on my smoothie kicks. All of the holiday indulgences start catching up and for the first time in a long time I crave actual fruit. Not just fruit flavoring, but real fruit! From nature!

And there’s no better way to enjoy fruit than to rip it from its natural state and blend it up. In this case, we’re talking cranberries, oranges, and pomegranate juice. They’re seasonally appropriate and combine to make a very delicious cranberry smoothie recipe.

FAQ

Can you use fresh cranberries instead of frozen?

I’ve only made this cranberry smoothie with frozen cranberries because I don’t add any ice cubes. If you try fresh cranberries, you will want to add some ice otherwise the smoothie won’t be very cold.

Can you use orange juice instead of a fresh orange?

You can substitute orange juice, but you may not want to add the honey if the orange juice you use has added sugar.

Do you have to use pomegranate juice?

No, you can use cranberry juice instead. Done and done.

If you have a stash of leftover cranberry in the freezer, this cranberry smoothie is a great way to use it up. I love one in the morning for a bright start or make it for an afternoon treat. Either way, it’s delicious.

Happy blending!
