Since 2009 I have been documenting my kitchen successes and missteps right here on my blog Girl Gone Gourmet. Since the start there have been many changes in my life -- job changes, moves and other various ups and downs that life has dished up. The only thing that hasn't changed is my love of cooking. By day I am a manager at an IT company and this blog provides a much needed creative outlet. Sometimes life gets busy and I stray from the blog, but I always come back. I can't keep the spatula or the camera out of my hands for too long. So thank you for stopping by and I hope you enjoy what you find.
About the Recipes
I'd like to call out that I don't run a test kitchen. There are many bloggers that test and retest recipes before posting, which is great. However, I'm just a girl that likes to cook and if a recipe works for me and I like it I will post it. If I don't like it I won't write about it unless it had to do with me -- I've managed to screw up quite a few dishes that had nothing to do with the original recipe. I enjoy writing about those experiences (like this one, this one and that one) and try to learn from all of them. In any case, please feel free to email me if you have any questions about the recipes posted on this site.
I am super jealous of the amazing food bloggers out there that post perfect photos, but not jealous enough to invest in a bunch of equipment and props. I'm fortunate to use an amazing camera, but other than that I don't use a bunch of fancy equipment to take photos. I get excited when I capture a great shot, but I focus more on sharing my real life. I am not a food stylist. For example, you will notice that some photos are taken at night (shock-horror!) and that's because we eat dinner at night. We eat on bright, sunny days and rainy days and enjoy our meals around a table illuminated with artificial light. I've picked up a few photo editing tricks along the way and do my best to share quality photos.
