Homemade Shepherd's Pie

Make the Filling

Sauté the carrots, onions, and garlic in an oven-proof skillet.  Add the beef and once it's browned add the flour and stir. Add the Worcestershire sauce and stock. Simmer until the juices thicken. 

Make the Mashed Potatoes

Boil the potatoes and then mash them. Add the butter and cream and mix until smooth.

Assemble the Shepherd's Pie

Add the peas and parsley to the filling and stir. Top with the mashed potatoes and sprinkle the cheese over the top.

Broil

Place the skillet under the broil for a few minutes, or until the potatoes turn golden in places.
