This easy one-pan braised sausage with peppers is quick to prep and smells amazing as it simmers in the oven. Use your favorite store-bought marinara sauce to make it really easy. Serve it over rice, pasta, mashed potatoes or cauliflower mash.
I like to use mild Italian sausage, but if you want a kick of spice, use hot Italian sausage. You can also mix mild and hot.
The sausage should be cooked to an internal temperature of at least 160ยฐF. Depending on your oven, it may take more or less time to cook.
If you don’t have an oven-safe pan or pot, use a regular pan and transfer the sauce, sausage, and peppers to a baking dish. You may need to add a few minutes of baking time since the baking dish won’t be heated before it goes into the oven.
I like the sausage and peppers with rice, potatoes, or bread. You can also slice the sausage and serve it with the sauce and peppers on soft rolls with melted cheese on top.
The leftovers keep really well! Store them in an airtight container,ย and they will keep for up to three days or so in the refrigerator. You can also freeze the leftovers for a few months.
