Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 pound jumbo shrimp (21/25 count) peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup teriyaki sauce (I like Soy Vay brand)

For serving

  • 4 cups cooked white rice
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
  • 2 sliced green onions

Instructions

  1. Mix the garlic powder, ground ginger, and pepper in a large bowl. Add the shrimp and toss to coat them evenly in the seasoning.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large non-stick pan over medium-high heat. Place the shrimp in an even layer in the hot pan. Cook them for two minutes on the first side. Turn them and cook them for a few minutes more or until they are pink and opaque.
  3. Take the shrimp out of the pan. Pour the teriyaki sauce into the same pan and bring it to a simmer for a couple of minutes. You want to thicken it enough so it coats the shrimp once you add them back to the pan.
  4. Add the shrimp to the sauce and stir to coat them with the sauce. Take the pan off the heat.
  5. Place the cooked rice in bowls. Top it with the shrimp and spoon extra sauce from the pan over the top. Sprinkle the sesame seeds and sliced green onions over the top for garnish.
