These loaded cheese fries are easy to make with frozen fries, a simple cheese sauce, bacon, and green onions!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound frozen French fries
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided (see note)
  • 1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup bacon bits
  • 1 green onion, sliced

Instructions

  1. Bake or air fry the fries following the package instructions. When they’re done, set them aside and adjust the oven heat to 375°F.
  2. Mix the shredded cheddar and cornstarch in a small saucepan. Add the cream and warm the pan over medium heat. As it warms, stir the cheese mixture until it’s smooth and creamy. Take it off the heat.
  3. Place half of the crispy fries on a small sheet pan or shallow baking dish. Drizzle half of the cheese sauce over the top, followed by half of the shredded cheese and chopped bacon. Top this layer with the rest of the fries and repeat the toppings.
  4. Place the sheet pan or dish in the oven and warm the fries until the cheese is melted, about five minutes. Garnish with the sliced onions and serve.

Notes

Use shredded block cheddar cheese for the best cheese sauce. It melts better so the sauce is creamier. You can use pre-shredded cheese, but the sauce will have a stretchy consistency. It’s not bad, but not as good as block cheese.
