This Caesar salad with steak is a delicious main dish salad recipe with tender sliced steak, homemade croutons, crispy lettuce, and creamy Caesar dressing.

Ingredients

Scale

For the Croutons

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 6 ounces cubed ciabatta

 For the Steak

  • 1 pound top sirloin steak
  • 1 teaspoon Montreal steak seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

For the Salad

  • 1/2 cup Caesar dressing
  • 12 ounces romaine hearts, chopped
  • 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F. Pat the steak dry with paper towels and season it on both sides with the salt and Montreal seasoning. Leave it at room temperature while you prepare the croutons.
  2. Combine the olive oil and Italian seasoning in a large bowl. Add the cubed bread and toss to coat the bread evenly with the oil. Spread the bread cubes on a sheet pan and toast them for 10 minutes at 375°F. Set them aside while you cook the steak.
  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a heavy skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the steak on one side for about five minutes. Turn it and cook it on the other side up to five minutes longer or until the internal temperature is 135°F in the center. Take the steak out of the pan and let it rest on a cutting board while you prepare the rest of the salad.
  4. Pour the dressing into a large serving bowl. Top it with chopped lettuce, Parmesan cheese, and parsley. Add the croutons and toss the salad to combine. Slice the steak against the grain into bite-sized pieces. Serve the steak on the salad or toss the salad again to combine.

Notes

Substitutions: Use store-bought croutons and refrigerated bottled Caesar dressing to make this recipe easier.

Servings: This recipe makes a pretty big salad – enough for four people if you add some garlic bread or soup on the side. If you make it for two, you can cook one steak and use three ounces of bread to make the croutons.
