Easy Cheese Danishes
Cheese danishes are a staple of hotel continental breakfasts and something I normally avoid. Spending a lot of time traveling for work has afforded me the opportunity to evaluate and reject this go-to offering on the basis that they are usually dry, flavorless and, frankly, just sad.
A growing addiction to another breakfast sweet, Krispy Kremes, is what prompted my attempt at a better, “at-home” version. For several Sundays in a row a box of hot Krispy Kremes has somehow ended up on my kitchen counter. The doughnut evilness is only a two minute walk away from where I live making it all too easy to roll out of bed on a Sunday morning and, within minutes, be right back in bed with a box of sugary goodness. It’s gotten a little out of hand.
To break the habit I turned to Pinterest and found this recipe for quick and simple cheese danishes on the blog Country Cleaver. I was intrigued. Easy-to-do baked goods?
It’s all pretty simple — some frozen puff pastry sheets, cream cheese and powdered sugar is all you need. Some time in the oven and – voila! – you get a fresh baked pastry that is pretty darn tasty.
So enjoy… and have a great weekend!
