One Pan Italian Sausage Ravioli

One pan Italian sausage ravioli is the kind of recipe that saves dinner on a busy night. Everything cooks in one skillet (no boiling! no extra dishes!) just tender ravioli, savory sausage, and marinara all finished with plenty of melted cheese. It’s cozy, easy, and on the table in about 30 minutes.

This one pan pasta recipe builds on a few of my favorite short-cut ingredients, but the result is greater than the sum of it’s parts; it tastes like it simmered for hours. So If you’re craving some hearty pasta, it’s an all-around winner.

Ingredients

  • Italian sausage links: Hot or mild. Your choice!
  • Marinara sauce: Use your favorite brand.
  • Frozen cheese ravioli
  • Shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Grated Parmesan cheese
  • Fresh parsley

How to Make It

  1. Brown the sausage: Slice the sausage links and brown the pieces in a hot pan with olive oil.
  2. Add the sauce: Add the marinara sauce and a half a cup of water to the pan with the sausage. Bring the sauce to a simmer.
  3. Simmer the pasta: Add the frozen ravioli to the sauce and stir. The pasta should be covered by the sauce. Cover the pan and simmer the pasta in the sauce for about 5 minutes. Remove the lid and continue simmering until the pasta is tender.
  4. Make it cheesy: Sprinkle both kinds of cheese over the top and cover the pan until the cheese is melted. Sprinkle the chopped parsley on top and serve!

Recipe Tips

  • Sausage swap: I like the hearty pieces of browned sausage, but you can swap the sausage links for ground Italian sausage to make the prep even easier.
  • Pan size: A pan with taller sides works best for this recipe so there’s plenty of room for the ravioli to cook.
  • Don’t skip the water: The water helps create enough liquid for the ravioli to cook properly in the sauce. Skip it and the sauce will thicken too much before the pasta is tender.
