Italian Sandwich Sliders
These Italian sliders have three kinds of salami with melted provolone and a tangy kick from banana peppers. They’re easy to assemble and bake in the oven until they’re toasty-hot!

Here we have some Italian sandwich sliders on soft rolls that take all of 20 minutes to make from start to finish. The concept is simple: buy some slider rolls, slice the whole thing in half, add Italian-style sandwich fillings, bake them, and serve them as the perfect game-day or party snack.
Soft Hawaiian slider rolls pair perfectly with salami, melty cheese, and banana peppers. I love the salty-sweet flavor with a kick of tang, so if that combo sounds good to you, trust me – these sliders are not to be missed.
Ingredients
- These mini sandwiches start with a package of 12 Hawaiian rolls. They are sold as one piece (not pre-sliced) which is what we want. I know it’s not what a traditional Italian sandwich might be served on, but the sweet rolls are just so delicious with all of the fillings.
- These sandwich sliders are all about the salami – three kinds, in fact. Genoa salami, pepperoni and cotta salami which is a cooked salami which you can find at most grocery stores.
- Some sliced banana peppers add a tangy vinegary bite that complements the rich salami. I use mild banana peppers, but if you like some heat, by all means, use the hot ones.
- For the cheese, we’re using sliced provolone.
- I like to brush the tops of the rolls with a mixture of olive oil, Italian seasoning, and garlic powder before popping the slider sandwiches in the oven.
How to Make Them
Slice the Bread
Start by slicing your Hawaiian rolls in half crosswise so you have two parts. A serrated knife makes this job easy – use a gently sawing motion as you cut crosswise through the rolls.

Place the bottom piece in a baking dish and set the top piece aside.

Add the Sandwich Fillings
Layer all the salami on the bread. Next, add the banana peppers.

Add the sliced provolone and then place the top bun piece on top.

Make the Seasoned Olive Oil
In a small bowl, combine the olive oil with the seasonings and brush it on the top of the rolls.

Bake the Sliders
Bake the sandwiches for 10 minutes or so at 350ยฐF or until the cheese is melted and the sliders are warmed through. Use a serrated knife to slice them into individual sandwiches.

Italian Sandwich Sliders
Ingredients
- 12 Hawaiian rolls
- 2 ounces sliced genoa salami
- 1 ounce sliced pepperoni
- 8 ounces cotta salami
- 1/3 cup sliced banana peppers mild or hot
- 4 ounces sliced provolone
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- 1 pinch each of salt and pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350ยฐF.
- Instead of cutting the rolls into individual ones, slice the bread crosswise through the middle so you have big two pieces. Place the bottom part of the rolls in a baking dish.
- Layer the genoa salami, pepperoni and cotta salami on the bread. Place the banana peppers in an even layer on the meat followed by the sliced cheese. Top with the other bread piece.
- In a small bowl, combine the oil and seasoning. Brush the top of the bread rolls with the seasoned oil. Bake the sandwiches for approximately 10 to 20 minutes or until the cheese is melted, the bread rolls are toasty on top, and the sandwiches are heated through.ย
- To serve, slice into 12 individual sandwiches with a serrated knife.

Happy cooking,

Made these Italian Sliders for NYE with a Caesar Salad. Super easy and fast prep ahead of time in the baking dish, then covered for baking later in the evening. We used mild Banana Peppers, but some with a little more ‘heat’ would also be great. We also warmed some spicy Marinara for dipping…pretty tasty! Perfect slider for football games, or other gatherings when pre-prep makes baking easy!
I love that you had a dipping sauce – that’s a great idea! So glad you enjoyed them – thank you for letting me know (and the rating!).
We love this recipe! We did tweak it a bit๐. We added thinly sliced red roasted peppers on top of the banana peppers and instead of brushing the top with olive oil and Italian seasoning, we brushed the tops with Kraft Tuscan Italian Dressing (this dressing is somewhat thicker and has small bits of seasoning compared to other Italian dressings). We then sprinkled black poppy seeds over the tops to give it a more โfancyโ look. We did find we needed to bake them a bit longer than 10 min to get them completely heated through and the cheese to melt (assuming this is due to the thickness of our deli meats and cheese). Perfect for quick dinner served with tater tots!
Thanks for sharing what you did! I’m glad you enjoyed them ๐
These are amazing!! Easy dinner with a side salad!!
So happy you liked the recipe! Thank you for the rating, too ๐
Delicious!
Making these for an easy Christmas Eve snack! My husband isn’t huge on salami so I’m doing pepperoni & turkey! Serving with seasoned French fries ๐
Love that combo! Sounds like a delicious snack ๐
Everyone loved them! Easy to prepare.
I can eat these all day, every day. Another fun and easy recipe to make.
So glad you liked them!
Should I spray the pan before placing the bottom Hawaiian rolls down?
I don’t spray the pan – they shouldn’t stick.
What is Catta Salami? Iโm struggling to find that in stores. Does it have another name?
Oscar Meyer makes Cotta Salami so you may find it near those brand products.
Jordyn, Cotta Salami is a cooked salami unlike hard/Genoa salami which is cured/aged. Oscar Mayer is one brand that I’ve found (look at your grocery store with their packaged bologna). Neither of my grocery store deli’s carried it and I wasn’t about to go to the high priced stores to find it. Good luck.
Just made a batch of these for Football Sunday. Ive made them before for a totally different crowd in the past, so it was nice to once again, hear from everyone about how great the Italian Sliders were! Some asked if they were hard to make (not!)… some asked about time commitment (about 20min as advertised!)….and everyone enjoyed them. Once again I added a marinara/pasta sauce dip for the sandwiches. The Banana Peppers really are a key ingredient. They just ‘punch’ up the overall flavor!
That’s great! So glad everyone enjoyed them.
my extremely sensitive to everything child (it has to look and smell good and THEN he’ll try something new, and only stick with it if it tastes good, too) has a new favorite dish with these sliders! Home Run!
Made these for a family gathering to celebrate St. Patrickโs Day. Used half a package of three kinds of salami all sliced and arranged in three rows. You see these everywhere. Placed one of each of the three varieties of salami on each roll, topped with smoked provolone and then chopped the banana peppers for better distribution. Brushed the tops with seasoned EVOO. They did take fifteen minutes to get heated all the way through. Took them out of the baking dish with a large spatula – they didnโt stick. Cut them into individual sliders and served. Everyone loved them!
So glad they were a hit!
A huge hit in my household of unadventurous eaters! I did end up using hot capicola in place of the cotta salami but followed the rest of the recipe pretty similarly. The olive oil/seasoning blend on top was a great touch. I have a feeling these will be made again soon.
I’m so glad your family loved the sandwiches!
Made these for a Super Bowl party and they were a fan-favorite! I’m not going to wait until next year’s Super Bowl to make them again. Thank you!
I just made these for a party and they were a huge hit! The combination of flavors and textures was amazing. I love how easy they are to make too. Can’t wait to make them again!
So glad you loved them!
